ABOUT THIS WINE
The Catena Appellation Paraje Altamira Malbec 2022 is a 100% Malbec from Bodega Catena Zapata, hailing from the Paraje Altamira appellation in Mendoza's Uco Valley. This wine is crafted to reflect the specific characteristics of its vineyard site, a concept inspired by French 'Vins de Village'. The Catena family, pioneers in high-altitude viticulture, has a long history with the Altamira region, dating back to the 1950s. The vineyard's location at approximately 1,100 meters (3,613 feet) and its chalky, well-draining soils are key factors in the wine's profile.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Catena Paraje Altamira Malbec 2022 begins with cold maceration for 3-8 days to enhance aroma extraction. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 12-18 days, with a total maceration time of 4-10 days. Malolactic fermentation is completed. The wine then undergoes aging for 11-13 months in 100% French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak (25-40%). Following barrel aging, the wine is aged in bottle for 10 months before release.
