ABOUT THIS WINE
Cau d’en Genís Alta Alella is a wine from the DO Alella region in Catalonia, produced by Alta Alella. The name translates to 'The House of Genís,' referencing the estate's oldest vineyard parcel. The wine is cultivated using certified organic farming practices within the Serralada de Marina Natural Park. Alta Alella was established in 1991 by Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and Cristina Guillén with a philosophy centered on producing transparent, organic wines that express their terroir and climate with minimal intervention. The vineyard's unique 'sauló' soil and its coastal proximity are key factors in its distinctive character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for Cau d’en Genís Alta Alella are hand-harvested from the estate's oldest parcel. Fermentation and aging occur for six months on fine lees within clay-based cement eggs. This method is employed to enhance aromatic complexity and mouthfeel, with the egg shape promoting natural lees stirring. The winery adheres to certified organic farming practices, utilizing only sulfur and copper hydroxide for vine protection and avoiding synthetic chemicals. White wines and Cavas from Alta Alella do not undergo malolactic fermentation to maintain freshness.
