ABOUT THIS WINE
Château de Lussac 2012 is a red wine from the AOC Lussac Saint-Émilion appellation in Bordeaux, France. The estate, founded in 1876, has been owned by Mme G Laviale-Mme Hervé since 2000, a period that saw significant investment in vineyard and winemaking infrastructure. The 2012 vintage was a challenging year in Bordeaux, marked by a difficult spring, resulting in a late harvest that yielded wines with deep color and ripe fruit characteristics. The winemaking philosophy since the change in ownership has shifted towards producing more supple wines intended for earlier enjoyment.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Château de Lussac 2012 involves alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with some integral vinification in barrels. Fermentation lasts for 10-12 days at 28°C, followed by post-fermentation maceration for 7-10 days at 28-30°C, utilizing selected yeasts. The wine is then aged for 15 months, with half of the production maturing in new and used French oak barrels and the other half in vats. Prior to fermentation, grapes are harvested mechanically and then meticulously sorted both by density and by hand.
