ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux's Left Bank, is a historic Fifth Growth estate highly regarded for its classic, old-school style and remarkable consistency. Owned and managed by the Borie family since 1978, the estate features a single, contiguous vineyard block that has remained virtually unchanged since the 1855 Classification. A unique human element defines the estate: the harvest has been hand-picked by the same Spanish family and workers from Andalusia for over fifty years, passing the tradition down through generations. The Borie family champions a traditional, non-interventionist philosophy, prioritizing long-term relationships with wine lovers by releasing almost their entire production En Primeur.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the 2023 vintage reflects meticulous selection and traditional Left Bank techniques. Grapes were hand-harvested between September 11 and September 28, 2023, and underwent two successive sorting stages on vibrating tables before and after de-stemming. Fermentation and an extended maceration of approximately three weeks took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The final blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot incorporated 12.5% press wine, with 55% of the total harvest selected for the Grand Vin. The wine was aged for 16 to 18 months in fine-grain French oak barrels, utilizing 75% new oak and 25% one-year-old barrels, resulting in a low pH of 3.55 that preserves freshness.
