ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Marquis de Terme is a historic estate located in the heart of the Margaux appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Classified as a Fourth Growth in the legendary 1855 Imperial Classification, the estate has a rich heritage dating back to the 15th century. It acquired its name in 1762 when François de Péguilhan, the Marquis de Terme, took ownership. Since 1935, the Sénéclauze family has meticulously managed the property, introducing modern innovations while respecting the unique terroir. The estate spans 40 hectares of deep gravel, sand, and clay soils, which impart a distinctive mineral complexity and elegance to the wines. Today, the estate is certified High Environmental Value Level 3 (HVE 3), reflecting their commitment to sustainable viticulture and ecological balance. The 2018 vintage represents a classic expression of this prestigious terroir, benefiting from a hot, dry summer and a perfect Indian summer that allowed the grapes to reach optimal maturity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the 2018 vintage at Château Marquis de Terme combines traditional Bordeaux craftsmanship with modern precision. Harvesting is conducted entirely by hand, with rigorous double-sorting both in the vineyard and at the cellar to ensure only pristine fruit is selected. The grapes are transferred to temperature-controlled concrete, wood, and stainless-steel vats entirely by gravity, avoiding any pumping to preserve fruit integrity. Vinification is carried out on a parcel-by-parcel basis to highlight the unique characteristics of each vineyard block. Fermentation begins with a cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation using natural yeasts and manual punching down (pigeage) for gentle extraction. Notably, vinification is completed without the addition of sulphites. The wine is then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new, with a small portion (around 8%) aged in concrete Nomblot egg-shaped vats to enhance texture. The wine is bottled using high-quality DIAM corks, which guarantee protection against cork taint for up to 30 years.
