ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Montus is the flagship estate of Alain Brumont, who revolutionized the Madiran region in South West France starting in 1980. Prior to Brumont's visionary work, Madiran reds were regarded as rustic and hard. By introducing lower yields, temperature-controlled fermentation, micro-oxygenation, and maturation in new French oak barrels, Brumont proved that the Tannat grape could produce world-class fine wines. The estate features steep slopes with Pyrenean rounded pebbles over clay soils, giving the wines remarkable longevity and structure.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2022 vintage was vinified using exclusively free-run juice to maintain elegance and prevent bitter press tannins. Temperature-controlled fermentation took place at 28°C with traditional cap punching (pigeage) and extended maceration lasting three to six weeks. Malolactic fermentation was conducted in large wooden vats. The wine was aged on fine lees for 12 to 14 months in French oak barriques (60% to 80% new oak), followed by further maturation in wooden vats prior to bottling.
