ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Musar is a renowned red wine from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, produced by the historic Château Musar estate. Founded in 1930, the estate is now led by the third generation of the Hochar family, who uphold a philosophy of natural winemaking with minimal intervention. The vineyards are situated at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level in the Bekaa Valley, characterized by gravelly soils over a limestone base. The estate is certified organic. The 2017 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan, known for its complex character and age-worthiness, often described as having an 'air of antiquity' and a 'wildness'.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Château Musar begins with the separate vinification of each grape variety. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in concrete vats using ambient yeasts at temperatures between 27°C and 30°C, with malolactic fermentation finishing by early November. The wines are then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels from Nevers. The final blend is assembled in early 2020 and bottled in the summer without fining or filtration. The estate employs certified organic viticulture with minimal intervention.
