ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Phélan Ségur 2017 is a red Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The estate, founded in the 19th century by Bernard Phélan, has a history of ownership by four families. The current owners are Philippe Van de Vyvere and his son Pierre. The vineyard is situated near the Gironde estuary in Saint-Estèphe, with an average vine age of 35 years and clayey gravel soils. The 2017 vintage was notable for its resilience to spring frost, attributed to the estate's terroir and location. The wine is characterized by a classic Médoc style, with a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon contributing to its structure and aging potential.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Château Phélan Ségur 2017 involves manual harvesting and berry sorting, including optical sorting, to ensure grape quality. Fermentation is conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then undergoes aging for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with 30% to 50% new oak. Sustainable farming practices are employed in the vineyard. The harvest took place from September 14th to October 4th, 2017.
