ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Quintus 2019 is a red wine from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation in Bordeaux, France. The estate is owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon, which also owns Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. The name 'Quintus' is a nod to Gallo-Roman naming traditions, signifying the fifth child. The estate was formed through the integration of Château Tertre Daugay and Château L'Arrosée. The vineyard is characterized by a diverse range of terroirs, including limestone plateau, clay-limestone slopes, and gravelly soils, with vines averaging around 30 years in age, some reaching nearly 100 years old. The 2019 growing season experienced a mild winter, cool spring, July heatwaves, and a favorable September harvest.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process at Château Quintus involves meticulous grape selection during manual harvests, which took place from September 19th to October 9th in 2019. Fermentation occurs in a mix of stainless steel tanks and wooden vats. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for about 18 months, primarily in French oak barrels, with a portion of these being new (around 33.5% to 40%). This combination of techniques aims to develop the wine's structure, complexity, and balance.
