WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Chateau Ste. Michelle Washington State Chardonnay 2022 involves a careful selection of grapes harvested by machine between early September and mid-October. Approximately half of the Chardonnay must undergoes fermentation in oak barrels, utilizing both new and old vessels, while the remaining portion is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, a portion of the wine is aged in oak: 28% spends eight months in French oak barrels (225 liters), and 24% is aged for nine months in American oak barrels (225 liters). This combination of fermentation and aging techniques aims to build complexity and character into the final wine.
