ABOUT THIS WINE
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvée Julien Barrot by Domaine La Barroche is a red wine from the Southern Rhône, France. The estate, managed by Julien and Laetitia Barrot, has a winemaking history dating back centuries. This cuvée is a blend from 14 distinct parcels, featuring very old vines, some over 100 years old, particularly Grenache. The vineyards are primarily located in the north and northeast of the appellation, with a significant proportion of sandy soils contributing to the wine's elegance. Julien Barrot's winemaking philosophy emphasizes balance, freshness, and the expression of individual terroirs, with each parcel often vinified separately.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Domaine La Barroche employs a meticulous winemaking approach focused on expressing terroir. The estate utilizes a gravity-flow system for gentle grape handling. Fermentation occurs in tulip-shaped concrete tanks, followed by an extended skin maceration of over four weeks with gentle extractions. The wine is aged for 18 to 20 months, with Grenache typically in large, old oak foudres and other varietals in demi-muids or concrete tanks. The wine is bottled without filtration to preserve its character and texture. Each of the 14 parcels contributing to this cuvée is often vinified separately.
