ABOUT THIS WINE
Black Chalk Classic 2020 is a vintage English sparkling wine from Hampshire, produced by Black Chalk Winery. Founded by Phil and Lynette Bowden in 2015, the winery's name, 'Black Chalk,' reflects their artistic approach to winemaking, inspired by Old Masters. The 2020 vintage is a significant milestone as it is the first to be produced entirely from their own estate vineyards and within their newly completed winery. The wine originates from Hampshire's chalky soils, a terroir known for contributing to the distinct character of English sparkling wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Black Chalk Classic 2020 is produced using the traditional method. The base wine is fermented, with a portion aged in oak barrels. Following this, secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, after which the wine undergoes extended aging on lees for 24 to 28 months. The dosage is set at 9g/l. The grapes are sourced exclusively from the producer's own vineyards in Hampshire, and the winery emphasizes sustainable viticulture.
