ABOUT THIS WINE
Clio is a distinguished red wine from Bodegas El Nido, part of the Gil Family Estates, located in the Jumilla region of Spain. This wine is a testament to a unique collaboration, often involving international winemaking expertise, focused on ancient, low-yielding Monastrell vines complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon. The high-altitude terroir of Jumilla, with its limestone and stony soils, plays a crucial role in shaping the wine's character. The 2023 vintage is noted for its power, depth, and aging potential, reflecting the unique conditions of the year and the region's suitability for these noble grape varieties.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Clio begins with a manual harvest of selected grape bunches, transported in small baskets to preserve fruit integrity. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks and barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation completed in new French and American oak barrels. The wine is then aged for an extended period of 23-24 months in these new oak barrels, which significantly influences its structure and flavor profile. This meticulous approach aims to capture the essence of the old-vine Monastrell and the high-altitude Jumilla terroir.
