ABOUT THIS WINE
Clos de Somméré is a compelling collaborative estate in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, uniting the deep historical roots of the Santé family—who have farmed the soils of La Roche-Vineuse since 1848—with the modern energy of cousins Régis Tuccinardi and Sylvain Grosshans. After establishing themselves as successful négociants, the cousins realized their dream of estate viticulture by partnering with the Santé family to co-manage 10 hectares of prime vineyards. The 'Les Forêts' parcel is a highly unique terroir for southern Burgundy Pinot Noir, featuring a strictly north-facing exposure directly opposite a dense woodland. This positioning, combined with 70-year-old vines planted in 1954 and flint-rich clay-limestone soils, acts as a natural cooler that preserves remarkable freshness and structural poise.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the 'Les Forêts' cuvée emphasizes low-intervention methods to preserve the purity of the old-vine fruit. The grapes are entirely harvested by hand with rigorous selection in the vineyard. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes partial destemming, retaining approximately 50% whole clusters to enhance aromatic complexity and structural freshness. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out using only native yeasts, accompanied by a gentle 18-day maceration. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 12 months in neutral French oak barrels ranging from 1 to 10 years of age, avoiding any new oak influence. To maintain its natural texture and terroir expression, the wine is bottled completely unfined and unfiltered.
