ABOUT THIS WINE
Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2020 is a red wine from the Southern Rhône Valley, France, produced by the Clos des Papes estate. The wine is notable for being a single red cuvée made from all thirteen permitted grape varieties of the appellation, a practice that sets it apart. The estate has a long family history in the region, dating back to the 18th century, with a current philosophy focused on traditional winemaking, minimal intervention, and producing wines intended for aging. The vineyards are farmed using biodynamic and certified organic methods, with vines averaging at least 50 years old. The 2020 vintage is characterized by its elegance and purity of fruit.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process at Clos des Papes for the 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape involves 100% destemming of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in open or concrete vats, utilizing natural yeasts over several weeks. Gentle extraction methods are employed to maintain purity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 to 15 months in large, old oak foudres, with no new oak used. The wine is then bottled without fining or filtering. The estate practices certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, including light plowing and cover cropping, with hand-harvesting and meticulous grape sorting.
