ABOUT THIS WINE
Clos Floridène was founded in 1982 by Denis Dubourdieu and his wife Florence, combining their names to create 'Floridène'. Denis, widely remembered as the 'Pope of white Bordeaux', was a legendary professor of oenology who revolutionized the region's white winemaking. He introduced innovative techniques like cold pre-fermentation skin contact and controlled yeast management, moving Bordeaux whites toward fresh, aromatic, and highly precise expressions. Today, his sons Fabrice and Jean-Jacques carry on this classic legacy. The estate is unique for its limestone bedrock under red clayey sands, which confers a distinct mineral-driven structure and salinity to the wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process focuses on preserving fruit purity and terroir expression. Grapes are 100% handpicked at optimal ripeness with strict sorting. Extraction involves slow, gentle pneumatic pressing under inert conditions to prevent premature oxidation, followed by natural cold sedimentation for clarification. Fermentation is carried out entirely in oak barrels and wooden vats. The wine is then aged on its fine lees with regular stirring (bâtonnage) for 8 to 9 months. To maintain the vibrant fruit and saline character, new oak is kept to a moderate maximum of 25%.
