ABOUT THIS WINE
The Niepoort Colheita 2009 is a single-vintage Tawny Port from the Douro region of Portugal. Produced by Niepoort Vinhos, a family-owned company established in 1842, this wine reflects the specific character of the 2009 harvest. The Douro Valley's unique terroir is crucial to the production of Port wines. The 2009 vintage was characterized by high temperatures, which contributed to the wine's complexity. Colheita Ports are single-vintage Tawnies, offering a distinct profile that differs from year to year and possesses greater depth than standard Tawny Ports.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Niepoort Colheita 2009 is produced from a proprietary blend of Douro grape varietals, including Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. The grapes are hand-picked and then foot-trodden in traditional lagares with 100% stems. Fermentation also occurs in lagares. Fortification takes place at Niepoort's port production center. The wine undergoes an extended aging process in old 550-liter oak barrels. Colheita Ports are single-vintage Tawnies that must age for a minimum of seven years before bottling; this particular vintage was aged for 13 years and bottled in 2022.
