ABOUT THIS WINE
Blandy's Colheita Malmsey 2016 is a single-harvest Madeira fortified wine. Produced by Blandy's, a winery with a family legacy dating back to 1811, it is aged for a minimum of five years in oak casks. The wine originates from the island of Madeira, Portugal, a region celebrated for its unique fortified wines. The 'Colheita' designation signifies a wine from a single vintage, and Blandy's employs the traditional 'Canteiro' aging system, a method involving the natural heating of wine in lodge lofts.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Blandy's Colheita Malmsey 2016 is produced through fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After five days, fermentation is arrested with the addition of grape brandy to achieve the desired sweetness. The wine then undergoes aging in seasoned American oak casks using the traditional 'Canteiro' system, a method that involves controlled heating in lodge lofts. This process is followed by regular racking before the wine is bottled when deemed mature.
