ABOUT THIS WINE
Complant is an artisanal, small-production project founded by the legendary father-and-son winemaking team Daniel and Sam Baron. Daniel Baron brings over 50 years of elite Napa Valley experience, including tenures at Chateau Montelena, Dominus Estate, and Silver Oak Cellars, alongside training at Château Pétrus. His son, Sam, adds international experience from Burgundy and New Zealand. The name 'Complant' is an old French term for a cultivated perennial vine, emphasizing the human connection to the terroir. This rare bottling from the Soberanes Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands represents a highly collectible piece of California winemaking history, as the project has ceased commercial production.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
This Pinot Noir is crafted with a low-intervention philosophy. The grapes are hand-harvested from the windswept Soberanes Vineyard in the cool-climate Santa Lucia Highlands. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes fermentation using only native, indigenous yeasts to preserve the authentic character of the site. The wine is aged in French oak barrels with a very low percentage of new oak to ensure the delicate, lacy texture and bright red fruit profile of the Pinot Noir are not overwhelmed by wood. The final blend is bottled with minimal intervention, resulting in an extremely limited production of just 123 cases.
