ABOUT THIS WINE
Bodegas Valdemar, located in Oyón within the prestigious Rioja Alavesa sub-region, is a historic family-run estate with a winemaking legacy dating back to 1889. Now managed by the fifth generation, siblings Ana and Jesús Martínez Bujanda, the winery is celebrated for bridging traditional Rioja craftsmanship with forward-thinking innovation. Notably, the estate is a global pioneer in social responsibility, having established the first 100% physically and sensory-accessible winery in the world. The 2015 vintage holds a prestigious distinction: it was selected by the Rioja Control Board as the sole official institutional Gran Reserva ambassador wine to represent the appellation globally at diplomatic and cultural events.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
This Gran Reserva is crafted from a meticulous selection of grapes sourced from the family's oldest estate-owned vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, grown in calcareous-clay soils at altitudes of 400 to 500 meters. The hand-harvested fruit undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, a technology Bodegas Valdemar pioneered in Europe in 1983. The wine is aged for 34 months in a combination of 70% French and 30% American oak barrels, representing a modern, French-dominant refinement of the traditional Rioja aging style. Following barrel maturation, the wine undergoes extensive bottle aging to achieve perfect integration and complexity before release.
