ABOUT THIS WINE
The Conterno Gattinara Cantine Nervi 2020 is a red wine from the Gattinara DOCG appellation in Piedmont, Italy, made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The estate, Nervi, is the oldest winery in Gattinara, founded in 1906. In 2018, Roberto Conterno, from the renowned Giacomo Conterno family, acquired Nervi. This acquisition aims to enhance the estate's already established reputation, leveraging Conterno's winemaking expertise to showcase the potential of Gattinara wines, particularly those from its unique volcanic terroir. The vineyards are situated on steep, south-facing slopes at elevations ranging from 250 to 550 meters, benefiting from the mineral-rich soils and the influence of Monte Rosa.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Conterno Gattinara Cantine Nervi begins with hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes. Maceration, lasting at least 20 days, occurs in temperature-controlled steel tanks and conical vats to facilitate flavor and tannin extraction. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for a minimum of 35 months for standard Gattinara DOCG Rosso, with a significant portion of this time spent in large oak barrels (botti). The producer has also adopted the bottling line used at the renowned Giacomo Conterno estate, indicating a commitment to refined finishing processes.
