ABOUT THIS WINE
The Costa d'Orta Appassimento Barbera is a red wine from the Piemonte DOC in Italy, produced by Bosio Srl. It is made from 100% Barbera grapes. A distinctive feature of this wine is the use of the Appassimento technique, where grapes are partially dried before vinification to enhance concentration and flavor intensity. This method, often associated with more robust wines, is applied here to create a unique expression of the Barbera grape. The grapes are cultivated in vineyards located in areas such as Alba and Castagnole Lanze, at altitudes of 200-300 meters, on clayey-calcareous soils. The Bosio family has a long-standing tradition in winemaking in the Piedmont region.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Costa d'Orta Appassimento Barbera is produced using the Appassimento method, which involves drying grapes to concentrate their flavors. After harvesting partially dried grapes, they undergo further drying in special rooms. The grapes are then fermented with a 6-day skin contact period in stainless steel vats. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks. This process aims to enhance the wine's color intensity, density, and concentration. The wine is also noted as being vegan-friendly.
