ABOUT THIS WINE
Masi Agricola, led by the Boscaini family for seven generations, is a benchmark producer in the Veneto region, celebrated for pioneering the modernization of historic Venetian winemaking. The name Costasera refers to the west and southwest-facing slopes in the Valpolicella Classica zone. These vineyards benefit from extended late-afternoon sun and the temperature-moderating influence of nearby Lake Garda, keeping the grapes dry and healthy. Masi refers to this iconic wine as its gentle giant—a majestic, powerful expression of the region's unique terroir and heritage.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
This wine is crafted using the traditional Appassimento method. Hand-harvested Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes are laid on traditional bamboo racks in specialized drying lofts for 80 to 100 days. During this natural air-drying process, controlled by Masi's proprietary NASA system, the grapes lose 30-40% of their weight, concentrating sugars and acids. A selective development of noble rot on the Corvina grapes adds complexity. In winter, the grapes undergo a slow, cold fermentation for 45 days, followed by aging for 24 months, with 80% in large Slavonian oak casks and 20% in small French Allier oak barriques.
