ABOUT THIS WINE
Crateca Bianco is a white wine from the island of Ischia in Italy's Campania region, produced by Crateca (Società Agricola Le Pergole s.r.l.). The wine is a blend of Biancolella, Forastera, Fiano, and Greco grapes, cultivated on volcanic soil at the foot of Mount Epomeo. The Crateca estate represents a revival, with the Castagna family restoring an ancient, abandoned property to honor Ischia's winemaking traditions and express the island's unique volcanic and marine character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Crateca Bianco is produced using grapes harvested manually in September. After destemming and crushing, the grapes undergo a brief cold maceration followed by soft pressing in an oxygen-free environment. The must is clarified naturally before a long fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for several months in stainless steel, with regular stirring of the fine lees (bâtonnage) to enhance texture and complexity. Sulfur is used minimally throughout the process.
