Monopole is Spain’s oldest registered white wine brand, first commercialized in 1915. In the mid-20th century, CVNE's legendary winemaker Ezequiel García, known as 'El Brujo' (The Wizard), established a unique style by adding a small portion of biologically aged Manzanilla Sherry to the Viura blend. This historic technique, which provides structural weight, high acidity, and exceptional aging potential, was phased out in the 1980s but revived in 2014 to mark the brand's centenary. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Villalba de Rioja, this wine represents a singular bridge between the fresh, mineral whites of Rioja Alta and the savory, biological complexity of Jerez.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The hand-harvested Viura grapes undergo gentle pressing followed by static clarification in traditional concrete tanks. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine is then racked with its fine lees for approximately eight months of aging in used oak barrels and casks of various sizes. Crucially, the signature character of Monopole Clásico is achieved by blending in a small percentage of traditional, biologically aged Manzanilla Sherry from the historic Bodegas Hidalgo in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, introducing a subtle veil of flor influence and oxidative stability.
