ABOUT THIS WINE
D.V. Catena Tinto Histórico 1910 is a red blend from Mendoza, Argentina, produced by Bodega Catena Zapata. This wine pays homage to Domingo Vicente Catena, a respected blender from the 1930s, whose full-bodied red blend was highly regarded. The current iteration is a modern interpretation of that classic style, crafted from a blend of Malbec, Bonarda, and Petit Verdot. The grapes are sourced from four distinct high-altitude estate vineyards in Mendoza, including locations in Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. The 2021 vintage, a cooler and drier year, contributes to the wine's vibrant and focused character. Bodega Catena Zapata, a family winery with a rich history dating back to 1902, is celebrated for its pioneering role in elevating Argentine wine quality through research and a deep understanding of Mendoza's diverse terroirs.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The D.V. Catena Tinto Histórico 1910 is crafted through a meticulous process that begins with extensive cold maceration (5-7 days at 8.8°C) to capture aromatic compounds. Fermentation is conducted using wild yeasts over 10-20 days, followed by a post-fermentation maceration period ranging from 4 to 22 days. Each component lot is vinified separately. The wine then undergoes aging for 8 to 14 months in a combination of first, second, and third-use French oak barrels. This approach ensures the development of a well-structured and complex red blend that reflects its historical inspiration and the unique terroirs of Mendoza.
