ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gaja Dagromis Barolo is a distinguished Italian red wine from the renowned Gaja winery, located in the Barolo DOCG appellation of Piedmont. The wine is named Dagromis in tribute to the Gromis family, who previously owned vineyards in La Morra that are now part of the Gaja estate. This wine is an expression of two significant Barolo terroirs: La Morra, known for its generosity, and Serralunga d'Alba, recognized for its structure. The fruit is sourced from vineyards in these two communes, with some vines dating back to 1965. The vineyards are situated at varying altitudes and benefit from diverse soil types, contributing to the wine's complexity. The 2020 vintage was marked by warm, consistent weather, allowing for optimal grape ripening.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gaja Dagromis Barolo is produced using grapes from distinct vineyards in La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba. The winemaking process begins with hand-harvesting the grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with each vineyard lot fermented and macerated separately. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in predominantly French oak barrels. It then undergoes a further aging period of 18 months in large Slavonian oak botti. This careful vinification and maturation process is designed to develop the wine's structure, complexity, and aging potential.
