ABOUT THIS WINE
The Derthona 2021 by La Colombara Fratelli Sensi is a dry white wine from the Derthona dei Colli Tortonesi DOC in Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from 100% Timorasso grapes. The 'Derthona' designation signifies wines from the historic territory of Tortona, a sub-zone of the Colli Tortonesi DOC. La Colombara Fratelli Sensi, or related entities like Azienda Agricola La Colombera, are recognized as early advocates for Timorasso, having replanted the varietal nearly three decades ago. The wine originates from the Costa Vescovato area, situated at 280 meters elevation on Tortonian Marl soils with a south-southwest exposure.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Derthona 2021 is produced using 100% Timorasso grapes. Key winemaking techniques include a three-day period of skin contact during fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its lees for 12 to 22 months in 700-liter acacia barrels. The grapes are sourced from vineyards in Costa Vescovato, Piedmont, grown on Tortonian Marl soil at an elevation of 280 meters. The viticulture is certified organic, with harvests typically occurring at the end of September.
