ABOUT THIS WINE
Strekov 1075, founded in 2002 in the southern Slovakian village of Strekov, is a pioneer of Central European low-intervention winemaking. Led by Zsolt Sütő, the estate is celebrated for its deep commitment to organic farming and traditional, hands-off cellar practices. The 2006 Devín represents a fascinating, early experimental chapter in the winery's history. Sourced from local cooperative vines before the estate's own Devín block was mature, this wine showcases the incredible potential of Slovakia's premier indigenous crossing—a hybrid of Gewürztraminer and Roter Veltliner—when treated with patience, respect, and a willingness to subvert commercial expectations.

The 2006 vintage was sourced from a local cooperative because Strekov 1075's own Devín vines were planted that very same year.
Fact 03
Early tastings of this vintage required 24 hours of aeration to fully open up, proving the immense resilience of oxidative natural wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Crafted using traditional, low-intervention methods, the grapes were hand-harvested at a highly concentrated sugar level of 22.5°NM. Spontaneous fermentation was carried out by native yeasts in neutral oak barrels without temperature control, enzymes, or any additives. The wine was then aged in an oxidative style on its fine lees without being topped up, allowing a gentle yeast veil (flor) to develop. To preserve its natural texture and complexity, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered with no added sulfur dioxide.
