ABOUT THIS WINE
Domaine is an ultra-limited, allocated micro-cuvée from Black Ankle Vineyards, located in the Linganore AVA of Maryland. Founded by Sarah O'Herron and Ed Boyce in 2002, the estate has spent over two decades proving that world-class wines can be grown in Maryland's rocky slate soils. The 'Domaine' bottling represents a milestone for the estate, sourced from a single, exceptional plot of Syrah vines that reached a majestic level of maturity in the 2022 vintage. This wine is produced only in years of outstanding quality, reflecting the deep connection between the estate's mature vines and its unique terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Domaine is highly meticulous and tailored to highlight the singular expression of a tiny estate block. The 100% Syrah grapes are hand-harvested from 20-year-old vines grown on decomposing slate soils. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes small-batch fermentation using native or carefully selected yeasts to preserve the site's unique character. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in premium French oak barrels to integrate its structure and develop complexity before being bottled with minimal intervention.
