ABOUT THIS WINE
Domaine Glinavos Debina 2019 is a white wine from the PDO Zitsa appellation in Epirus, Greece, made from 100% Debina grapes. This indigenous variety has a long history in the region, traditionally used for sparkling and semi-sparkling wines. Domaine Glinavos S.A., established in 1978 by Lefteris Glinavos and now run by his son Thomas, focuses on high-quality wines from local grapes. The Zitsa region's specific microclimate, characterized by high altitudes and cool temperatures, is crucial for the Debina grape's cultivation. The wine is often noted for its delicate effervescence, a characteristic linked to its traditional winemaking methods.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Domaine Glinavos Debina 2019 is produced from 100% Debina grapes. The vineyards are situated at altitudes of 600-700 meters on limestone-rich soils. Viticulture emphasizes low yields to enhance quality, with harvest timed for specific sugar levels (11-12 Baumé). Fermentation of the Debina grape is key to its character, and some bottlings are made with a secondary fermentation to achieve a semi-sparkling (frizzante) style. Certain expressions of Debina from this producer may also involve skin contact during fermentation, creating 'Orange Wine' styles.
