ABOUT THIS WINE
Dominio de Atauta is located in the unique and extreme Valle de Atauta, a high-altitude enclave in the easternmost province of Soria within Ribera del Duero. Established in 1999, the winery was founded with the mission to preserve and showcase an extraordinary heritage of ancient, pre-phylloxera Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) vines. The valley's extreme continental climate, sitting at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, combined with sandy soils over limestone, protects these ancient vines and yields wines of incredible tension, minerality, and depth. Parada de Atauta is crafted to offer a more approachable yet deeply mineral expression of this unique terroir, sourced from old vines averaging over 90 years of age.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Parada de Atauta focuses on preserving the purity of the high-altitude fruit. Grapes are hand-harvested and strictly sorted before undergoing selective destemming and cold-soaking. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks, grouped by their village origins. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in large wooden vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (225 liters), of which 20% is new, followed by an additional 5 months of refinement in concrete tanks before bottling to harmonize the structure and polish the tannins.
