ABOUT THIS WINE
Don Antonio Primitivo 2017 is a 100% Primitivo wine from Cantine Coppi, located in the Marchione district of Conversano, Puglia. This wine is classified as Primitivo IGP Puglia. The 'Don Antonio' name honors Senator Antonio Michele Coppi, a significant figure in the winery's history, who experimented with the estate's best grapes to create this wine. Cantine Coppi, established in 1882 and family-owned since 1976, is dedicated to producing wines from indigenous Puglian varietals. The vineyard sites are characterized by limestone and clay hills, with vines replanted on historic grounds. The 2017 vintage has received notable awards, including '3 Bicchieri' from Gambero Rosso.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Don Antonio Primitivo 2017 begins with hand-harvested grapes selected in early September. A key technique employed is carbonic maceration for approximately 7-8 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for six months in 100 hl Slavonian oak barrels. Post-barrel aging, it undergoes at least one year of bottle rest before release. The annual production is around 50,000 bottles.
