ABOUT THIS WINE
Dreigenerationenwein (Three-Generations Wine) is a deeply personal bottling from Weingut Werlitsch, managed by Ewald and Brigitte Tscheppe in Southern Styria. Unlike their soil-specific Ex Vero series, this wine is a nostalgic tribute to ancient Styrian farming, sourced from a historic vineyard plot that has been continuously farmed by three generations of the Tscheppe family. Ewald and Brigitte are pioneering figures in the Austrian natural wine movement and active members of the 'Schmecke das Leben' collective. This field blend captures the heritage of their estate, offering a pure, unadulterated expression of their unique terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are grown on steep, amphitheater-like slopes in Glanz an der Weinstraße on 'Opok' soils—a dense, chalky limestone marl. The vines are trained in a wild, overhanging trellis system ('Überhangerziehung') and farmed strictly according to Demeter biodynamic standards. Harvested entirely by hand, the co-planted varieties are co-fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large, neutral oak vats. The grapes undergo a brief maceration on the skins for about two days to preserve aromatic freshness. The wine is aged for 18 months on the fine lees in large, old wooden barrels and bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulfur.
