ABOUT THIS WINE
Dry Creek Vineyard's Dry Chenin Blanc 2021 marks a significant milestone, celebrating 50 consecutive vintages of this varietal, a unique achievement for an American winery. Inspired by the Chenin Blancs of France's Loire Valley, founder David S. Stare aimed to replicate that classic style in California. The grapes are sourced from the Wilson Ranch in the Clarksburg AVA, a region benefiting from cooling breezes from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, which aids in preserving grape acidity. The 2021 vintage, despite drought conditions leading to reduced yields, produced fruit of high quality with notable acidity, contributing to the wine's fresh and vibrant character. Dry Creek Vineyard, now in its second generation of family leadership, adheres to a 'No Compromises' philosophy, focusing on terroir-driven wines and sustainable practices.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2021 Dry Chenin Blanc was produced using 100% Chenin Blanc grapes from the Wilson Ranch in Clarksburg. The winemaking process prioritized preserving the grape's natural freshness and aromatic qualities. Fermentation took place entirely in stainless steel tanks over 24 days at cool temperatures ranging from 53-62°F. Post-fermentation, the wine was aged in stainless steel, with no oak used. This technique ensures the wine's purity and vibrant character. The winery is 100% Certified Sustainable, reflecting a commitment to environmentally conscious practices. The 2021 harvest occurred on August 23-24, with drought conditions contributing to lower yields but high fruit quality and acidity.
