ABOUT THIS WINE
El Enemigo Chardonnay 2021 is a white wine from Mendoza, Argentina, produced by Bodega Aleanna. The wine's name, 'El Enemigo,' signifies the internal battles that shape individuals. This bottling pays homage to European immigrants who sought to recreate the fine wines of their homelands in Argentina. The grapes are sourced from the Gualtallary sub-region of the Uco Valley, known for its high-altitude vineyards and calcareous soils. The 2021 vintage was marked by a cooler climate and reduced yields due to frost, contributing to the wine's specific profile. A distinctive feature of this Chardonnay is its aging process, which includes a veil of flor yeast, a technique typically associated with Sherry production, contributing unique aromatic and textural complexity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
El Enemigo Chardonnay 2021 is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in Gualtallary, Uco Valley, Mendoza, at an altitude of 1470 meters. The 2021 vintage was cool with increased rains and frost, resulting in lower yields. The grapes are hand-harvested. Fermentation occurs in 500-liter French oak barrels, with 35% new oak, using indigenous yeasts at a maximum temperature of 18°C for 40 days. The wine is then aged for 9 to 12 months in similar barrels, notably with a veil of flor yeast. Farming practices are conducted with organic principles in mind.
