It originates from the Ribeira Sacra region in Galicia, Spain, known for its challenging, steep vineyard sites. The wine's name, 'El Pecado,' translates to 'The Sin,' referencing the intense manual labor required for viticulture in this area. Raúl Pérez is recognized for his philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking, aiming to express the unique terroir of his old-vine vineyards. Production volumes for El Pecado are notably limited.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
El Pecado is produced using a low-intervention winemaking approach. Grapes are typically fermented with native yeasts in open oak vats, often with extended maceration periods, sometimes including whole clusters. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for around 12 months in used oak barrels. Raúl Pérez's philosophy emphasizes minimal manipulation to allow the character of the Mencía grape and the Ribeira Sacra terroir to be expressed.
