ABOUT THIS WINE
SRC Etna Rosso DOC is a red wine from the Etna region of Sicily, Italy, produced by Azienda Agricola Crasà SRC. The wine is primarily made from Nerello Mascalese, with a small percentage of other local red varieties. It is cultivated on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in vineyards located at high altitudes (650-1000 meters) with volcanic soils. The winery, SRC, is a family-run operation that began in 2013 with a philosophy of minimal intervention, respecting nature and the unique terroir. The name SRC is derived from the family's first names and also evokes the Italian word 'esserci,' meaning 'to be here,' signifying their deep connection to the land. The wine is known for its elegance and mineral character, often drawing comparisons to Burgundy due to its terroir-driven profile. The 2022 vintage, with 14% ABV, showcases the potential of Nerello Mascalese grown in this distinctive volcanic environment.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
SRC Etna Rosso DOC is produced using a philosophy of minimal intervention. Grapes are hand-harvested from old vines grown on volcanic soil at high altitudes. Fermentation is carried out spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in open vats, followed by a maceration period of three to four weeks on the skins. The wine then ages for about 12 months in cement tanks to maintain freshness and minerality. Very low levels of sulfites are added, and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its natural character and ensuring it is vegan-friendly. This approach aims to capture the pure expression of the Etna terroir.
