ABOUT THIS WINE
The Tornatore Etna Rosso is a red wine from the Etna DOC appellation in Sicily, Italy. It is produced by Azienda Agricola Tornatore, a family with a winemaking history dating back to 1865. The wine is primarily made from Nerello Mascalese, with a smaller proportion of Nerello Cappuccio, indigenous grape varieties cultivated on the volcanic soils of Mount Etna's northern slopes. The vineyards are situated at high elevations, contributing to the wine's distinctive character. The Tornatore family's winemaking philosophy emphasizes respect for the land and tradition.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Tornatore Etna Rosso involves hand-harvesting and manual sorting of grapes. Fermentation occurs in concrete tanks or stainless steel with a maceration period of 10-12 days at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for approximately six months in large format wooden barrels, followed by three months of bottle aging before release. The grapes are destemmed but not fully crushed.
