ABOUT THIS WINE
Famiglia Occello is an artisanal line from the historic Cantine Pirovano, founded in 1910. The La Scoperta Barolo is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the calcareous-clayey slopes around the prestigious hillsides of Barolo in Piedmont, Northern Italy. This cuvée, whose name translates to 'The Discovery,' is designed to challenge the traditional notion that Barolo requires a decade of aging. It aims to showcase a fresher, more immediate, and fruit-forward expression of Nebbiolo while preserving the majestic structural backbone characteristic of the region. The 2021 vintage is celebrated for its exceptional quality, offering classical structure, flawless maturity, and a striking balance of acidity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The La Scoperta Barolo is produced using classical Barolo methods. Grapes are carefully hand-picked at optimal ripeness. The winemaking process involves temperature-controlled fermentation and extended skin maceration to extract deep color, flavor compounds, and robust tannic structure. The wine is then matured in a combination of traditional large oak casks and cement tanks. This aging process, which includes a prominent but balanced use of oak, helps to round out the aggressive youthfulness of the Nebbiolo grape, contributing to its complexity and aging potential.
