ABOUT THIS WINE
The Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2022 is a 100% Chardonnay from the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, South Africa. The Newton Johnson family's winemaking philosophy emphasizes natural methods to express the unique terroir of their estate. The vineyards are situated on mid-slopes at altitudes of 240-260 meters, rooted in porphyritic granite soils. This region's cool, maritime climate, influenced by proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, plays a crucial role in shaping the wine's character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2022 is produced using 100% Chardonnay grapes. The winemaking process begins with whole-bunch pressing, followed by spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts in Burgundian oak barrels. The wine undergoes an 11-month maturation period in oak barrels, with a proportion of new French oak. Following barrel aging, some batches may spend additional time in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled without fining or coarse filtration. Production for this vintage was 14,040 bottles.
