ABOUT THIS WINE
Finca el Puig is a red wine from the Priorat D.O.Q. in Catalonia, Spain, produced by Gran Clos. The wine is named after the steep hillsides where its old vines, some up to 100 years old, are cultivated. These vineyards are situated on the distinctive Llicorella slate soils characteristic of the Priorat region. Gran Clos is recognized for its dedication to expressing the authentic character of Priorat, a commitment that has led to critical acclaim, including being named the #1 winery in Priorat. The wine's name also references the historical viticultural legacy of the area, dating back to the 12th century.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Finca el Puig begins with a pre-fermentation maceration of 3-4 days, followed by spontaneous, temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation. Post-fermentation maceration lasts for 3-4 weeks, with soft pressing used to extract the wine. The wine then undergoes barrel aging for 13 to 15 months in French oak, with 25% new barrels and 75% 1-year-old barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered to maintain its natural character.
