ABOUT THIS WINE
Bodega Torre de Oña was founded in 1995 in Páganos, within the Rioja Alavesa sub-region, and was acquired in the same year by the renowned La Rioja Alta, S.A. estate. Finca Martelo Reserva represents a modern interpretation of Rioja Alavesa, crafted under the direction of chief winemaker Julio Sáenz. Sourced from 60-year-old vines grown at 630 meters above sea level along the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, this wine highlights the high-altitude limestone soils of Páganos and Elvillar.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes are hand-harvested in small 20 kg crates and kept in cold storage at 4°C prior to sorting. The fruit undergoes a five-day cold pre-fermentation maceration below 9°C before temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place over two months in new French and American oak barrels with weekly lees stirring. The wine matures for 24 months in oak (80% American, 20% French) with four traditional gravity rackings, followed by six months of tank harmonization before bottling.
