ABOUT THIS WINE
Flammante Valtellina Superiore Inferno 2019 is a single-varietal Nebbiolo from the Valtellina Superiore DOCG in Lombardy, Italy. The wine's name, 'Flammante' (Flaming), is inspired by the 'infernal' semantics of the Inferno sub-zone, highlighting the demanding viticulture practiced on steep, rocky slopes. Tenuta Scerscé was established in 2008 by Cristina Scarpellini, who sought to create wines that authentically express their territory. The region of Valtellina is characterized by its 'heroic viticulture' on dramatic terraces, a testament to the meticulous manual labor required to cultivate Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Flammante Valtellina Superiore Inferno 2019 undergoes natural red vinification, with maceration on the skins lasting at least 30 days, employing techniques like pumping over and délestage. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 14 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks (25 hl). It then benefits from a further minimum of 8 months of bottle aging before release. The grapes are harvested by hand in early to mid-October. Tenuta Scerscé employs sustainable and organic farming practices in its vineyards.
