ABOUT THIS WINE
Fleurie Clos Vernay is a red wine from the Beaujolais region of Burgundy, France, produced by Domaine Lafarge-Vial from 100% Gamay grapes. Founded in 2014, Domaine Lafarge-Vial extends the winemaking philosophy of Frédéric Lafarge and Chantal Vial from their Burgundian estate to Beaujolais. The Clos Vernay vineyard, a 1.3-hectare site on steep slopes of pink granite and quartz, contributes to the wine's minerality and structure. The estate practices certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, focusing on terroir expression and minimal intervention. The 2022 vintage is characterized by a 'prettier character and a sweet ball of fruit'.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Fleurie Clos Vernay is produced from 100% Gamay grapes. Following hand-harvesting, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. Approximately 15% to 25% whole cluster fermentation is employed. The wine then undergoes aging for 15 months in older oak barrels, specifically 228-liter and 350-liter demi-muids, with a focus on minimal intervention. The vineyard is farmed using certified organic and biodynamic practices.
