ABOUT THIS WINE
Franck Massard, a French native and former UK's Best Sommelier (1996), created the El Mago project in the D.O. Terra Alta region of Catalonia, Spain. The name El Mago translates to the wizard, celebrating the magic of winemaking, and is also a blend of his children's names, Maya and Hugo. Hugo even designed the whimsical wizard illustration on the label when he was five years old. Franck's philosophy is to showcase the pure, vibrant character of high-altitude Garnacha from organic vineyards around the village of Villalba dels Arcs, offering exceptional quality and character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested from organic vineyards situated at 540 to 580 meters elevation. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 24°C to 26°C using selected yeasts to preserve primary fruit character. Gentle extraction is achieved through pumping over twice daily, followed by a three-week skin-contact maceration to extract color and aromatics without harsh tannins. The wine is 100% unoaked, aged for six months on its fine lees in stainless steel before bottling.
