ABOUT THIS WINE
Franck Massard, a former UK Best Sommelier (1996), transitioned from serving wine to crafting it when he moved to Spain in 2004. Huellas (meaning fingerprint or imprint) was his very first wine in Priorat, representing the manual labor and minimal intervention involved in its creation. Sourced from old vines aged between 30 and 45 years in the cooler northern zone of Poboleda, this wine reflects the unique slate soils, known locally as llicorella, and the surrounding Mediterranean garrigue. The label features a delicate butterfly wing, symbolizing the estate's commitment to biodiversity and the natural ecosystem of the region.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are organically grown and harvested entirely by hand in small crates to prevent premature crushing. After gentle de-stemming, fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. Extraction is managed carefully through a combination of traditional punch-downs (pigeage) and pump-overs (remontage). The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels: 20% in new 500-liter barrels, and 80% in second- and third-use 225-liter barrels, before being bottled without animal-based fining agents.
