ABOUT THIS WINE
Gaja Ca'Marcanda Vistamare is a white wine from Tuscany, Italy, produced by the renowned Gaja winery. The estate, Ca'Marcanda, was established by Angelo Gaja in 1996. The name 'Vistamare' translates to 'view of the sea,' reflecting the coastal location of the vineyards that overlook the Tyrrhenian Sea. This maritime influence is a defining characteristic of the wine. The 2022 vintage experienced a dry growing season punctuated by mid-August rains, which influenced grape development.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gaja Ca'Marcanda Vistamare 2022 is produced from a blend of Vermentino, Viognier, and Fiano. Each grape variety is fermented separately. Vermentino is typically fermented in stainless steel tanks, while Viognier is fermented in wood or oak barrels. Fiano fermentation may occur in stainless steel, concrete, or oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging. Vermentino is aged in stainless steel, and Viognier is aged in oak barrels. Some aging on the lees is also practiced to enhance complexity and texture. The wine is typically aged for around six months in stainless steel and oak.
