ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gémina Selección Monastrell is a red wine from Bodegas BSI, a producer founded in 1934 in the D.O. Jumilla region of Spain. The wine is made exclusively from 100% Monastrell grapes. A distinctive feature is its origin from European Root (Pie Franco) vines, which are older than 40 years and ungrafted, resulting in very low yields per vine. The name 'Gémina' itself is a nod to the historical Roman name for Jumilla. Bodegas BSI is recognized for having the largest extension of these ungrafted Monastrell vines in the world and emphasizes environmental respect in its practices.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gémina Selección Monastrell undergoes a meticulous winemaking process. Grapes are harvested in small boxes and hand-selected. Fermentation occurs in 10,000-liter stainless steel tanks with controlled temperatures during a three-week maceration phase to extract color and tannins. Malolactic fermentation is completed before the wine is aged for 8 months in new American and French oak barrels in a conditioned cellar.
