ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru from Domaine Jacques Prieur, vintage 2021, is a 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France. Its uniqueness stems from grapes sourced from younger vines within the Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard, which are voluntarily declassified to Premier Cru status. This practice allows for a focused expression of these specific vineyard parcels. Domaine Jacques Prieur, with origins in 1868, is now guided by the Labruyère family, committed to preserving Burgundy's terroirs. Oenologist Nadine Gublin has played a significant role in the estate's quality evolution. The wine hails from the Côte de Nuits, a region celebrated for its Pinot Noir, specifically from parcels with deep, limestone-rich soil.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is produced from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The winemaking process involves 100% destemming, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled open oak vats for 20 days, utilizing natural yeasts and twice-daily punching down of the cap. The wine is then aged for 17 months in barrels, with a significant proportion of new oak used. The grapes are sourced from younger vines (over 30 years old) within the Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard, which are voluntarily declassified to Premier Cru status. Farming practices are organic and sustained.
